Membership FAQ's

Who is your core audience?

Emergent Generation’s audience is wide and inclusive.

The network is for all young people who are interested, passionate, or involved in farming and food systems, agroecology, and regenerative thinking. We reach across rural, peri-urban, and urban communities.

Our diverse ecosystem includes those practically involved in farming, forestry, growing, land management, conservation, policy, consultancy, and advice. We welcome researchers, students, informal learners, and the curious. We engage with those involved in finance, marketing, health care, tourism, technology, teaching, art, activism, cooking, and nutrition. We hope to connect with young entrepreneurs, geographers, doctors, vets, chefs, retailers, influencers, journalists, and early career leaders too!  We respect that all members of our community are at different stages of their journey.

We are initially concentrating on 18 to 35 year olds but will also engage a younger audience as we develop.

We also understand the importance of intergenerational support and mentoring (from Em Gen elders and our growing alumni network) and hence we aim to facilitate leadership, knowledge sharing and connection across ages.

We welcome participants from underrepresented backgrounds, people of colour, neuro diverse persons, and those who might have a long-standing illness, accessibility needs, disability, or infirmity (related to physical or mental health).

''Great diverse mix of people. Nice to see so many like-minded people, with all different backgrounds, interests and experiences.  There's more young people

doing this than I thought.''

What happens when members reach 35?

Whilst most of our membership benefits and events are aimed at those between 18 and 35 we value intergenerational knowledge and skill sharing.  We also don't want members feeling lost at 36!.

So.... if you are young member who is turning 35 soon, then don't panic! If you wish you can stay on our mailing list and remain a valued member of the Emergent Generation community.

I am already 35 but love what you do - how can I engage?

If you are not yet a member and are over 35, but love what we do and want to engage, then please do drop us a line and tell us how you can help us. For example, you might make a great mentor, host a careers talk for us or share a skill with our young audience. Intergenerational knowledge is important to us.

I am over 35 - can I join one of your events?

The majority of our event attendees will be young members. But we do welcome a small number of over 35s to events where appropriate and where intergenerational sharing is clearly beneficial. Your tickets may cost you a little more than a young members ticket.

I am under 18 - can I join?

We can't accept under 18s at present, sorry. However, we hope we can offer talks or support special events in the future working with schools and colleges. Get in touch if you would like to discuss an idea.
