About the event
Join Em Gen'r, Cai Tudor online who will be talking with John Meadley, co-founder of Psture for Life, and Mambud Samai, founder of Farming on Crutches, an organisation in Sierra Leone which teaches regenerative farming to amputees, turning disability into opportunity by providing hope and employment.
After the civil war in Sierra Leone, the country was left with an estimated 30,000 amputees, many of whom were marginalised and unable to access work. Farming on Crutches was started to empower amputees, helping them to become change makers within their communities, while also encouraging farmers to move towards more regenerative methods of farming and restore ecosystems through permaculture principles and practices.
Cai will share how he got involved with Farming on Crutches, his time participating in one of the training courses in Sierra Leone, and the structure of the course, which includes practical training in crop rotation, greenhouses and bokashi natural fertiliser.
